I have been an allotment tenant for over twenty years and have a plot on Bybrook Cemetery site.

At the time I took over the plot a lot of hard work was needed to bring the soil back to being suitable for growing crops as most new tenants will find .

I am interested in all aspects of allotment gardening and particularly enjoy growing vegetables with the greatest success being with leeks, onions and potatoes.

I became the site rep for Bybrook and after the resignation of Bob Stubbs I was elected Chair of the committee most recently being re elected in 2015.

When not gardening I am teaching science part time and training each year for a marathon as well as maintaining my Martial Arts black belt as well as other gym based activities.

I have several cats including two Bengals who need a lot of attention and three chickens .

I enjoy learning Botanical drawing classes and try to read widely .

I am mostly up at the trading store during opening hours if you want to make contact with me on any matter or you can.

I have had an allotment since July 2011 and in 2015 won best plot on Musgrove Farm and best plot in the borough.

I took early retirement from the N.H.S. 4 years ago, where I had spent 21 years as a maintenance electrician.

I am a volunteer at Willesborough Windmill, where I am the Miller and also carry out maintenance work to keep the mill complex working. At the moment Willesborough is the only fully working mill in Kent.

For about 5 months of the year I am kept busy at Christchurch Hall, where I am stage manager for ‘Ashford Panto’ and have the job of designing, building and painting the scenery and sets for the January pantomime. 2017 will be The Beauty & the Beast.

Position subject to confirmation at committee.

A new allotment holder who joined the Westrees site in August 2015, taking a full plot, I was lucky enough to win best newcomer for Westrees and the Borough at the 2016 judging.

I have18 years experience in Marketing and PR – my role as part of the committee is to raise the profile of both the allotment sites themselves but also the role the society plays as part of the wider local community. I also want to improve committee and plot holder communication and encourage increased plot holder participation in events and showcase the allotments, growing successes and the allotment community across the whole borough.

I run local web development and design company Warp Design. I have an allotment at Westrees where I like to spend as much time as possible when not building websites for people (it’s a great stress-reliever!). I believe everyone should have access to arable land and my goal is to eventually get the allotment productive enough to make our family self-sufficient in produce year-round.
